Mr. Tariq Hayat Lashari – 2010

Mr. Tariq Hayat Lashari is lecturer of English at Cadet College Petaro since 2009.
He was born on 19 July 1978 at Sukkur, and got married to Mrs. Majida on 8 June 2008. At present they do not have children.
|Tariq Hayat spent his early years at his native Sukkur, and completed his Matric and Intermediate from that same city. He then graduated with a B.Sc. from Shah Abdul Latif University at Khairpur and then went on to obtain his M.A. (English) from the same university with a First Division. At present, he is enrolled for an M.Phil. in Social Sciences at Hamdard University. He is currently working on his dissertation, which focuses the implications and effectiveness of technology integration in language learning.He started his professional career in 2001 as an English Language Instructor New Vision English Language Center at Sukkur where he taught English as a foreign language to graduates and medical and law professionals. He worked at this center until 2005.
In the meantime, he also simultaneously started to work as an English Language teacher at the Public School Sukkur, where he conducted classes at the language lab, prepared students for declamation, speech and debating competitions and utilized modern tools like multimedia and OHP for his teaching methods. He taught at this school from 2001 to 2007.
His next job was as Senior English Teacher at Herald Citi School in Karachi from 2007 to 2009 where he taught English to Secondary and O Level classes, and organized co-curricular and extra-curricular programs. At the same time, he also worked with the Call Centre Agents Training Program funded by the City Government, Karachi as an English Language Instructor from 2008 to 2009. This program was outsourced to Ensign Communiqué. He was assigned to teach English language skills, voice and accent and BPO inbound and outbound calling.
Finally he joined Cadet College Petaro in 2009 as Lecturer. Other than his teaching assignments, he uses the English Language Lab at the college to improve cadets’ communicative competence through task-based activities. He also assists the cadets in preparing for declamation and debating competitions.
Tariq Hayat has a great promise at Petaro and also for his future professional development. His research interests are related to CALL, blended learning, learner autonomy, technology integration, and classroom management, academic and professional English. In addition to pedagogy, he conducts and facilitates professional development workshops for teachers in the rural areas of Sindh and continues to mentor new teachers and youth.
